Laser removal of eyebrow tattoo

Laser removal of eyebrow tattoo

How does a tattoo develop?
During make-up tattooing, dark-colored ink particles are deposited into the superficial layer of the skin with a tattoo machine, so the depth of the ink particles is uniform. During the few weeks after the tattoo, the ink particles enter the connective tissue cells of the skin. The ink particles injected into the skin are foreign substances in our skin, but the ink substances in the connective tissue cells cannot be ingested and removed by the phagocytic cells, which is why the tattoo remains permanently. Reasons for tattoo removal: you are bored, you don't like it anymore, the shape has been spoiled, the feeling that made you get the tattoo may disappear.

At our private practice we perform make-up tattoo removal with a Q-switched Nd YAG laser

What are the benefits of Q-switched Nd YAG laser makeup tattoo removal for you?
With the treatment method we use (that is, 4 passages at a time), one treatment may ideally be sufficient. The tattoo gradually fades during the 4-6 weeks following the treatment. Fading only partially depends on the treatment, it largely depends on the activity of phagocytic cells in the patient's skin, which cannot be influenced in any way. If necessary, the treatment is repeated after 6-8 weeks.

How does the Q-switched Nd YAG laser work for makeup tattoo removal?
The Q-switched laser emits short-term, high-energy pulses, its light is only absorbed in the ink particles of the tattoo and explodes them. The disintegrated ink particles can already be removed from the skin by the phagocytic cells. The energy of the laser heats up the ink particles so quickly that they explode without heating the surrounding skin, thus avoiding damage to the environment or the scar formation. The result of tattoo removal is influenced by the skin color, the amount of ink, and the scarring caused by the tattoo. We cannot guarantee the complete removal of the tattoo, because the dyes in the tattoo are varied and of unknown material, tattoo artists can use pigment materials of any origin, they can mix them as they wish, and we have no information about this.

What do you need to do before removing a make-up tattoo with a Q-switched Nd YAG laser?
You should stop sunbathing and solarium 2 weeks before the treatment, because it increases the pigment production of the skin. Do not use tanning cream for a week before the treatment. We can only treat a brown-skinned patient with lower energy (lower efficiency), because in this case the laser also heats up the skin, which can lead to side effects. Healthy, elastic skin tolerates laser treatment better, so use body lotion in the days before the treatment.

How to perform make-up tattoo removal with Q-switched Nd YAG laser?
No anesthesia is required when removing a make-up tattoo. The treatment is not painful, it only causes a stinging sensation. After a test shot, we adjust the treatment parameters for your skin type. Then, in contrast to the usual treatment (one passage at one treatment session), we perform the treatment with our treatment method (during one treatment session, with 20-minute breaks, 4 passages).

What happens after makeup tattoo removal with a Q-switched Nd YAG laser?
Immediately after the treatment, a whitish discoloration appears, followed by redness, swelling and a burning sensation that disappears within a few hours. This is followed by crust formation and peeling lasting a few days. You can immediately return to your daily activities after the treatment.

What should you do after removing a make-up tattoo with a Q-switched Nd YAG laser?
You should use the prescribed anti-inflammatory and antibiotic ointment for a few days. Avoid direct sunlight or don't use a solarium for 3 months, don't use a sauna for 2 weeks! The laser-treated area may tan more than its surroundings under the influence of sunlight, so use a sunscreen with 30 SPF for at least 3 months.

What discomfort can you experience after removing a makeup tattoo with a Q-switched Nd YAG laser?
A rare and mild complication is the formation of blisters and point-like bleeding, followed by crusting and peeling in 3-5 days. The treatment does not involve the formation of scars, but the scars created during the tattooing become visible due to the fading of the paint. In the case of insufficient sun protection, the treated area may become more pigmented. The melanin in the hairs also absorbs the light of the Q-switched Nd YAG laser, which is why the eyebrow hairs lighten temporarily after the treatment. For dark skin types, the treated area may remain light for a few weeks.

When do we not perform make-up tattoo removal with a Q-switched Nd YAG laser?
Pregnancy or breastfeeding, keloid tendency, unrealistic expectations from the patient, if the patient cannot avoid direct sunlight. If the tattoo has caused an allergic reaction, as in this case a severe allergic reaction may develop during the treatment.
